About
At Plant Up, we began with a dream that sprouted in our tiny apartment. As a young family of four, we longed for a garden where we could grow our own veggies, pick fresh flowers, and pluck juicy berries. Amid the hustle of daily life, we would sit together with our two kids under five, sketching visions of our future garden paradise. Those dreams blossomed into reality when we found a rundown house with a rubbish-filled garden on a quarter-acre block, ready to be transformed.
Growing up in South India, surrounded by coconut and banana plantations, mango orchards and all things tropical, we already knew the joys of growing food. When we moved to the beautiful island of New Zealand, we carried that passion across continents, eager to give our children the same experience of connecting with nature and savoring the sweetness of homegrown fruit. What started with one plant became a few more, and then a few more—until there was more than enough to share. This passion for gardening became the seed for Plant Up, a business built to spread the joy of edible gardening far and wide.
Our family’s garden serves as the heart and foundation of our mission. It’s where we grow over 50 varieties of fruit trees, a wide range of herbs, seasonal veggies, and vibrant flowering perennials. But it’s more than just a garden; it’s a space filled with memories, lessons, and inspiration—a space that reminds us of home, even when we are miles away.
Through Plant Up, we share not just our love of gardening but also our hard-earned knowledge. We help others avoid the mistakes we made, saving time and energy. We offer practical advice on building gardens, selecting plants, and sourcing those hard-to-find varieties that bring a sense of nostalgia—like a banana tree that’s more than a tree but a cherished memory, or the sweet scent of jasmine flowers that transport you back home.
Our mission at Plant Up is simple: to make gardening accessible and enjoyable for everyone. We believe that a garden is more than just a collection of plants; it’s a source of joy, comfort, and connection. Whether it’s creating edible landscapes, teaching easy gardening techniques, or helping you find that one special plant, we are here to help you taste the love of your own garden paradise.
